Father to the famous Moipei sisters risks jail term

Nicholas Ole Moipei, father to the famous singing sisters risks 6 months in jail after he was found to be guilty of contempt of court.

Moipei is the chairman of the governing Council of the Kenya Cultural Center.

He is alleged to have illegally dismissed acting CEO Edwin Gichangi even after the court barred him from doing so pending determination of court proceedings.

The court made the order on July 5, 2018.

The aggrieved Gichangi then moved to the Employment and  Labor Relations Court in December 2018 where he expressed his discontent.

Gichangi sought to have Moipei and Benson Kimoni–who was the CEO at the time– held responsible for disobeying the court order.

The court however did not found Kimoni in contempt.

Justice Stephen Radido on Friday directed that Mr. Moipei appear in court for mitigation and sentencing on Monday next week.
