Gang kidnaps 3 children, demands Sh6m ransom

A family at Marindi in Homa Bay County is living in fear after unknown people kidnapped their three children on Saturday.

Phoebe Akinyi, 11, Isaiah Ogwe Junior, 7, and Risper Ogwe, 3, were headed to their grandmother’s house a few meters away from their parents’ homestead when unknown people abducted them and escaped.

The kidnappers issued an 18-hour ultimatum to Isaiah Ogwe’s family (beginning Saturday noon) to raise a ransom of Sh6 million.

Mr Ogwe, who had no idea his children had been kidnapped, only learnt of the incident when he received a message at noon from a strange number demanding Sh6 million, lest the children be killed.

The kidnappers’ cell phone has since been switched off.

Mother of the kidnapped children, Roseanne Ogwe, told Citizen Digital that her family has been struggling to come to terms with the incident.

The parents reported the matter to police in Homa Bay, but have not received any information on the progress of the case.

The family claims they have no suspect(s) in mind.
