Female AP officer stabbed to death in morning attack

A female Administration Police (AP) officer was this morning stabbed to death at Igoji town in Meru County while on duty.

The officer, who was guarding the Capital SACCO offices in the company of another officer was attacked by gang of three at about 9am Wednesday morning and her G3 rifle stolen.

The constable was rushed to St Anne’s hospital in Igoji where she died while receiving medical attention.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, area chief Titus Mugambi Mureithi said the other officer struggled with one of the attackers who had stolen the gun to no avail.

“One of the attackers was caught by members of the public and lynched on the spot,” he said.

However, police caught up with another one of the gangsters and arrested him, leaving only one at large.

Speaking at the scene of the crime, Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Kisangau said that they were still pursuing the other gangsters.

“I’d like to offer my gratitude for the people of Igoji for coming to the rescue of the guard. I take this opportunity to give my condolences for those who are grieving,” he said.
