Integrity questions against Waititu

He takes over from the late George Muchai who was brutally murdered on February 7th, 2015 along the busy Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.

Waititu inherits a troubled county following rising cases of alcoholism among the youth, high rates of unemployment and wrangles between traders and the county government of Kiambu over levies imposed.

He also becomes the first Member of Parliament to be elected through the newly formed Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) that brings together affiliate parties of the ruling Jubilee coalition.

Waititu unsuccessfully contested for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat that was clinched by Dr. Evans Kidero.

Despite facing many integrity questions, Waititu was cleared by the IEBC and the High Court to contest in the poll.

One of his challengers, Kiriro Wa Ngugi, has threaten to move to court to stop his ascending to power.
