FIDA Kenya condemns increased killings of young women

The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA) has condemned the increasing incidents of murder of young women.

Taking to twitter, the women cited Thursday’s incident where 29- year- old Monica Kimani was murdered and her body dumped in a bathtub in her house in Luciane apartments in Kilimani, Nairobi.

“The Brutal murder of Monica Kimani is a clear indication of the high level of insecurity in Kenya,” said FIDA.

The federation has now called on the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and the Directorate of criminal Investigations to conduct thorough investigations into the recent spate of killings and bring the culprits to book.

This comes even as  pressure mounts on police to conclude investigations into the brutal murder of Sharon Otieno, 26, whose body was discovered near Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County early this month.

The seven months pregnant university student went missing after she was abducted alongside a Nation journalist who was pursuing a story implicating Migori Governor Okoth Obado in a love triangle.

Governor Obado is currently in police custody waiting to be arraigned on Monday.
