Fight against terror has reduced attacks, Nkaissery says

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Nkaissery on Tuesday said the fight against terrorism has greatly reduced criminal activities in Kenya.

The CS said the government has devised proper measures to help in the fight against terror, lauding the September 2016 rescue of Judy Mutua, a teacher who had been abducted by militants at Shaba-Difu, Somalia.

“There has been much peace and stability in N. Rift region, Security amendment laws and police reforms have enabled realize many goals, this has led to 20% reduction in crime rate,” stated the CS.

The CS also revealed that more than 75% of the hotels in Mombasa have been booked, showing a great confidence by foreigners.

“We have received huge numbers of global investors. My ministry mounted successful operations in securing president Barrack Obama, the Pope, Sirleaf and the most recent World Trade Organization Conference which came into a conclusion without any skirmishes,” stated the retired Major General.

Nkaissery spoke on Monday when he officially opened the offices of the Deputy County Commissioner of Nairobi in Kamukunji. He urged Kenyans to keep a watchful eye this festive season so as to avert terror threats.

He called on Kenyans to support the government’s counter to terrorism efforts by reporting suspicious activities and persons in their locations.

Nkaissery has also applauded the Muslims who shielded their Christian counterparts against an Al Shabaab terror attack on a bus in Mandera town on Monday.

According to the CS, the act by the Muslim passengers is a sign of unity that all Kenyans should emulate.
