Fight over children turns tragic as woman is stabbed to death in Homa Bay

A 26-year-old woman on Sunday night stabbed to death another woman at a rental house in Nyandiwa Trading Center, Homa Bay County, following a fight over their children.

Confirming the incident, Suba South sub-county Police Commander Richard Cheruiyot said Queenter Ochieng stabbed 36-year-old Noel Akinyi on the neck leading to her death.

According to the police boss, confrontation between the two women began reportedly when their children fought during the day within the trading center.

The deceased then reportedly confronted the suspect in her house at about 7:30pm while armed with a knife, but she (suspect) disarmed her and used the knife against her.

Mr. Cheruiyot added that the suspect was rescued from an angry crowd baying for her blood by police officers who later took her to Magunga Police Station where she is being detained awaiting arraignment.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
