Fire guts down businesses in Kericho

Businessmen in Kericho township are counting losses after an inferno gutted down their premises near the Kericho Bus stop.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire allegedly started at around 2am from a hotel and quickly spread to the nearby business stalls.

It took the collective effort of the County Government of Kericho and Finlays Tea company fire brigade to put out the fire which is suspected to have been started by an electric fault.

Elsewhere, residents of Ndindiruku, Kiumbu, Mwea East are at a loss of a means to connect them to the other parts of Mwea after a bridge collapsed Monday night.

Residents suspect that a lorry that was overloaded with sand caused the collapse since it could not withstand the stretching load that had surpassed the bridge’s limit.

They are now appealing for help as some cannot go to their farms, schools and normal business activities in other towns.
