Fire guts down Kitui County Finance offices

Kitui County Finance and Economic Planning offices were early Monday morning razed down by fire.

Confirming the incident, Kitui County Finance Executive Mary Nguli said the source of the 2am fire is yet to be established.

Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau, in a statement to newsrooms later on, added that the fire brigade moved in and contained the inferno.

Dr. Nzau further stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have since secured the scene and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

“Her Excellency Governor, who is out of the country on official duties, has been briefed on the incident. She will issue a further statement on this unfortunate incident later,” read the statement.

“We urge our staff and all citizens of kitui to remain calm and not speculate as the investigating agencies get to the bottom of this.”

The fire comes slightly over a year since another one gutted down the county Sports, Culture and Tourism offices.
