Fire razes down business premises in Meru

Residents of Annex Kaciongo in Igembe South Sub County, Meru are counting losses after two business buildings were reduced to ashes Tuesday morning.

According to Daniel Mutugi, a businessman, he was woken up by noise from the residents who were shouting for help only to find his business on fire.

“When I woke up, I found fire had razed down my business, and while trying to save the little that remained, those who came to help stole my property,” he said.

An employee in one of the pubs said nothing was salvaged from the dawn fire.

Nominated Member of county Assembly (MCA) Dorosine Kagwiria challenged the CEC for Roads and Infrastructure to refurbish roads in the area to ensure they are passable in cases of emergency.
