First COVID-19 case confirmed in Kericho
Health CAS Rashid Aman has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Kericho County.
Speaking during the Press briefing on Saturday, Dr. Aman said 33 out of Kenya’s 47 counties have so far reported cases of coronavirus.
Sources indicate that the patient in Kericho is a truck driver who was tested at the Busia border.
Citizen Digital established that the driver was tested on Friday and had already left the Busia border by the time the results were released.
He was however found at Kapsoit Trading Center while on transit and is currently being treated at the Kericho Sub-County Hospital.
Tracing of his contacts has also begun.
On Saturday, the Health CAS also announced that 11 other truck drivers from Turbo in Uasin Gishu County had tested positive.
So far, total cases of coronavirus in Kenya are 1,888.
