First Lady Applauds Kenyans Generosity

‘’Kenyans are deeply interested in the project and when I ran to raise awareness, they ran with me and gave what they had.’’ She said.

 

Speaking durind the ‘First Lady’s Half Marathon 2015’,Mrs Kenyatta said that she is impressed by the progress that preceded the attempts to reduce new HIV infections in children.

 

‘‘The number of new HIV infections in children fell by nearly 50 per cent between 2009 and 2012.

 

She also added that she launched the initiative to improve the gains made in reducing maternal and child deaths.

 

The first lady urged Kenyans to maintain that generosity adding that their deep concern for the welfare of others shows that the private sector in Kenya has truly come of age.

 

Health Cabinet secretary, James Macharia praised the First Lady for championing the noble cause.

 

Businessman, Chris Kirubi donated Sh4 million towards the initiative, Kenya Power donated Sh3 million and Cathy Kiragu, a student (Sh230,000).
