First Lady Begins Training For London Marathon

The First Lady aims at raising funds for her ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign that seeks to reduce maternal and child deaths in the country.

Statistics show in 2012 alone, over 100,000 children died, before celebrating their 5th birthday.

The campaign also aims at eliminating new HIV infections among mothers and children.

The First Lady who is also celebrating her 50th birthday today, Wednesday, trained for an hour at the Kensington Gardens at the Royal Parks in London.

Later, the First Lady hosted a private cocktail party attended mostly by her team members at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London to celebrate her 50th birthday.

Elite Kenyan athletes are also expected in London to accompany the First Lady in raising funds for her campaign.

The elite athletes include,Wilson Kipsang, Wilson Kipsang Mutai, Geoffrey Kiprono Mutai, Stanley Kipleting Biwott, Martin Irungu Mathathi, Priscah Jeptoo, Florence Jebet Kiplagat and Edna Kiplagat.
