First Lady donates 45th Mobile Clinic

Beyond Zero’s mobile clinic programme entered the home stretch Wednesday when the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, handed over the 45th Mobile Clinic to Nandi County.

With only Murang’a and Nairobi counties remaining to receive the mobile clinics out of the 47 counties in the country, the First Lady said her efforts would not have been possible without the backing she received from Kenyans.

“All the clinics we deliver represent the very best of Kenya,” the First Lady said.

The First Lady pointed out that the clinics she has been delivering reflect the spirit of generosity that exists amongst Kenyans.

“It is also about ensuring that expectant mothers have access to safe places to deliver their babies. We also try to ensure that essential vaccinations for new-borns are given promptly and that treatment for sick children is readily available,” said the First Lady.

The First Lady commended the Nandi County Governor’s spouse, Florence Lagat, for the many great initiatives she has undertaken to support the welfare of children, girls and mothers.

Health Cabinet Secretary, Cleophas Mailu, commended the First Lady for championing maternal and new born healthcare, saying her efforts have greatly contributed in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

He said as the country transits to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), the First Lady’s support will be crucial to the health sector.

Nandi Governor, Cleophas Lagat, said that the mobile clinic will greatly boost the achievement of his county’s healthcare goals, adding that it will assist women and children access treatment at their door steps.
