First Lady to address World Assembly on Women in Japan

The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta will next week be in Japan where she will address the World Assembly for Women (WAW) 2015.

The announcement comes after she held talks with the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya Tatsushi Terada.

During the visit, the First Lady will hold talks with her Japanese counterpart Mrs Akie Abe, the Prime Minister Shinzo ABE and visit one of the hospitals dealing with maternal health matters.

At the WAW conference, the First Lady is expected to address the issues of maternal health in Kenya. She will also use the visit to Tokyo to launch her 2016 marathon  after holding  a training session   around the imperial palace.

According to the Ambassador,  Mrs  Abe is expected to join her Kenyan counterpart during the training session.

The Ambassador said the Japanese visit by the First Lady will strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and his country adding that Mrs Abe commands substantial influence among the people of Japan.

According to the official program of her visit, the First Lady will also visit one of the major museums and attend a reception organized in her honour so that she can appreciate the Japan rich culture.

Earlier, the First Lady held talks with the chairperson of the Freedom from Fistula Foundation Dr. Ann Gloag where they discussed  the challenges of the Fitsula condition and the adoption of children in Kenya.
