Police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old fisherman who was found with a Standard 8 pupil from Seme Sub-county, Kisumu County, who went missing last week.

The fisherman identified as Julius Onyango was arrested at Othany Beach in Kisumu.

East Othany sub-location Senior Assistant Chief Caleb Apondi Okuom, said he received a report from the minor’s mother that her daughter had gone missing.

“The mother reported that her daughter had gone missing after coming from school on Saturday last week. She suspected that the fisherman was behind the ‘abduction’ of her daughter,” said Okuom.

According to the chief, police had to break down the door to the house the girl was in as it was locked from the inside.

The fisherman and underage girl were both arrested and taken to Pombewa Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
