Fishermen find five bombs in Lake Victoria

Police in Mbita have secured five bombs that were discovered by fishermen in Lake Victoria at Litare beach on Sunday evening.

Mbita OCPD Wilson Nanga said they are waiting for bomb specialists from Kisumu to examine the bombs before they are diffused.

The OCPD said it is suspected that the bombs were among the ones that were used during the Second World War.

He said the fishermen, through their beach management chair Benedict Ochieng’, informed them about the discovery of the bombs.

The police boss urged fishermen in the area to work closely with them to ensure improved security and also report any suspicious metals found in the lake.
