Fist fights disrupt church service in Embu

Church service in Embu was disrupted after a fight broke out between two warring factions.

Trouble at the church, located at Dallas estate in Embu County, began after one of the groups alleged that church leadership had changed the name from the original Redeemed Gospel Church to Jesus Joy Center.

Daniel Mutiso, one of the aggrieved parties, alleged that the church, which was founded under the Redeemed Churches umbrella, had its name changed into its current name by the current leader Paul Muthanja without consultations.

He stated that the church’s leadership had refused to appear before the national council prompting them to push for his ouster.

Police officers led by the Embu west OCPD Francis Sang were called to ease the tension among the faithful and restore normalcy.

Sang said that the wrangles pitting the two factions ought to iron out in a peaceful manner without resorting to physically exchanges.
