Five more suspects arrested over abduction of 60-year-old woman in Kisii

Five more suspects have been arrested in connection to the now one month-old abduction of a 60-year-old woman from Bokeire village in Kisii.

Esther Bochaberi Oyugi was reportedly abducted from her home on the night of March 11, 2018 by unknown people and her whereabouts have remained unknown to date.

According to Kisii County Police Commander Abdi Hassan, the police have intensified investigations and are looking for more suspects.

This follows a directive from Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i asking police to expedite investigations into the abduction of the woman and ensure her rescue.

The arrest of the five suspects brings to 10 the number of suspects who have been apprehended in connection to the abduction of the woman, who was a pastor in the area, over alleged land issues.

Last month, five suspects, among them an interdicted Chief, were arraigned in court and charged with abducting the woman.

They denied the charges and were released on a bond of Ksh.200,000 each with a surety of a similar amount.
