Five gangsters operating in Nyeri, Kiambu and Nairobi arrested

Police in Karatina, Nyeri County on Saturday arrested five suspects believed to be part of a criminal syndicate operating between Nyeri, Kiambu and Nairobi.

Nyeri County Police Commander Adiel Nyange said goods worth Ksh.1.5 million were also recovered in the operation by officers acting on a tip off from members of the public.

According to the police boss, some of the recovered goods had been stolen from houses in Witeithie in Kiambu County, and others in Nairobi’s Umoja and Kayole estates.

He added that the gang has been terrorizing residents within the county and have been robbing homes and institutions, adding that they left a watchman dead at a local church where they made away with sound speakers.

The recovered goods included a government laptop stolen from a school, motorbike, electronics, among other stolen goods.

A Nyeri resident, who recovered his motorbike worth Ksh.120,000, disclosed that some of his fellow riders had also lost their bikes over the recent past.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned next week.
