Five girls arrested after undergoing FGM in Bomet

Five girls are being held at Sotik police station in Bomet County for undergoing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) at Seroi village in Kaplomboi Sub location.

According to Kaplomboi chief Peter Tele, the suspects were arrested following close coordination between members of the Nyumba Kumi and local administrators.

During the arrest, one of the facilitators managed to escape and is currently being pursued by police.

They are set to be arraigned to answer to charges of practicing the outlawed cultural practice.
