Five injured as rival boda boda operators clash
At least five boda boda operators in Isiolo were injured after two rival groups clashed over an operation station.
It is alleged that a group of more than 50 boda boda operators armed with crude weapons attacked another group that operates from a station located outside Isiolo District Hospital.
Speaking shortly after the scuffle, Isiolo Hospital Boda Boda Association chairman, John Mutio, said that the two groups have been conflicting over the right to use the stage, something that sparked the fight.
Mutio also pointed out that police have remained silent on the issue despite filing reports on the matter.
“We reported the issue to police but so far, nothing has been done to settle the dispute,” he noted.
One of the injured boda boda operators lamented that the assailants are forcing them to shift to another station because the Isiolo Hospital stage belongs to specific tribes.
Property of unknown value was destroyed during the fracas including several motorbikes.
