Five injured in fresh Narok clashes

At least five people are nursing arrow injuries at the Narok District Referral Hospital following fresh attacks at Ngoben area in Narok South.

Several others have been taken to Ololunga hospital for treatment following the latest attacks in the area.

Tension is high as families flee their homes following the latest flare-up between the Maasai and Kipsigis.

The clashes were sparked off when a cow went missing only to be found tied under a tree at the homestead of one of the rival community members.

Security officers from Narok County have moved to the region to restore calm.

The latest fighting barely three days after Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya called on communities living in Narok to embrace peace during the festive season.

This is the second time the region is experiencing clashes after Mau evictions were conducted in September. During the last fighting, four people were killed at Olposimoru along the Nakuru-Narok border.
