Five Nyeri County officials released on Ksh.500K bond

Five Nyeri county officials who were arrested over corruption allegations have been released on Kshs. 500,000 bond each.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua on Wednesday, the suspects denied the charges.

The anti-corruption agency arrested three members of the Nyeri County Public Service Board and two ward administrators on Tuesday.

The first three are accused of irregular recruitment of administrators, abuse of office  and conspiracy to commit a corruption offence.

The two ward administrators were charged with forgery and uttering a false document.

The offences are said to have been committed between July 2013 and March 2014.

The case involving the five Nyeri County officials will be mentioned on October 9, 2018.
