Five thugs gunned down along Thika Road

Five thugs were today (Monday) gunned down on the Thika Superhighway as they tried to flee from police officers.

The 11.45 am incident also saw one police officer shot on the chest by one of the robbers before being rushed to the GSU hospital for treatment.

Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli said police acted on a tip off from members of the public and trailed the suspects from Westlands to Thika road and exchanged fire after they defied orders to stop.

“Our officers exchanged fire with the criminals and five of them were killed. The five were in a most wanted list of criminals who had been terrorising city residents in recent times,” said Ms Kimeli.

An eye witness told Citizen Digital that they were told to lie down before the sound of gunshots rented the air.

“We were later told they were criminals,” said one man.
