‘Fixing’ blame continues as Uhuru now links Raila to his ICC woes

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday linked CORD leader Raila Odinga to the cases that faced him and his deputy William Ruto at the International Criminal Court.

In a strongly worded address in Ruaka and Ruiru during his tour of Kiambu County, Uhuru accused Raila of using the ICC cases to bar their political masterminding a push to have them jailed at the ICC by crafting false accusations against them.

“They (CORD) said you shouldn’t elect us because we will be jailed at the ICC. This only means they wanted fellow Kenyans to be jailed in a foreign land,” said President Kenyatta.

Uhuru expressed his gratitude to Kenyans for standing by them during the court processes saying it is through their prayers that the cases were dismissed.

He noted called on Kenyans to desist from acts of division and hatred that may lead to the recurrence of the 2007 post-election violence.

“When my case was dismissed I did not want to celebrate from my brothers Ruto and Sang’s cases were still ongoing. Now that we are all on the clear we would like you to join us at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Saturday (April 16th) for a thanksgiving ceremony,” he noted.

In his addresses, DP Ruto said that it was through prayer sand devolution from Kenyans that the cases at the ICC collapsed.

He said that the dismissal of the cases now free him and the president to serve Kenyans diligently and fulfill their pre-election promises.

This comes as an article on international agency AFP quotes Raila saying the collapse of the cases against President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto was injurious to the fight against impunity.

The CORD leader reportedly accused ICC of falling victim to acts of blackmail by Kenya, through the African Union, of a possible mass withdrawal from the Court if the cases against Uhuru and Ruto are not dropped.

The article is a contradiction of Raila’s previous utterances saying he had nothing to do with the cases facing Kenyans at the ICC.

ODM leader had previously linked Uhuru Kenyatta to the case facing Ruto saying he would not have fixed Ruto owing to his position as ODM member at the time.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria took the blame game a notch higher by claiming that he took part in bribing witnesses in the case against DP Ruto.

Kuria also accused Raila and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua of fixing DP Ruto at the IC, claims they have both denied.

Speaking after the collapse of the cases, Joshua Sang, one of the ICC suspects, accused one wing of the Grand Coalition government, the defunct Party of National Unity (PNU), of fixing him at the ICC.
