Flexing muscles? Fight against Sonko over ‘Pimp my Ride East Africa’ takes another blow

Patrick Nderitu, the owner of ‘Pimp My Ride East Africa’ carwash was dealt a blow after a court struck out the case he filed against demolition of his business.

Nderitu moved to court after Nairobi County officers presented him with an eviction notice.

He filed a case against the Nairobi County Government on July 10 barring the demolition of the building that was located at the junction of Kenyatta Avenue and Muindi Mbingu Street.

Nderitu claimed that the county issued him with a seven-day notice dated July 2, as a scheme to gain access to his property after the deadline.

The county officials however insisted that the building had been constructed illegally.

Nderitu on the other hand argued that he was in lawful possession of the property and was apparently in possession of a lease agreement.

On Friday, the court struck out the case for lack of jurisdiction.

In May 2019, the carwash was demolished despite assertions by the manager, James Saitoti, insisting that they had not been served with any notice of eviction or court order.

Earlier reports had alluded that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had been prompted to take action against Nderitu for his involvement in the destruction of a school, Kinda Start, and a church in Buruburu Phase Four.

The County boss condemned the businessman for destroying the school warning that he would take the action.
