Focus on issues, not falsehoods, Embu politicians urged

A member of the Embu County Assembly has urged politicians from across the political divide to practice issue-based politics in their campaigns instead of peddling falsehoods and propaganda to sabotage their opponents’ bids.

Nominated MCA, Shunem Ngira, said that it is time politicians learn to sell their ideas and manifestos to the mwananchi instead of propagating lies and insults about their opponents.

“Politics is a competition of ideas that will suit the voters and ultimately they should be left to elect leaders of their own choice,” said the MCA.

Ms Ngira also advised the youth not to allow rogue politicians buy them liquor to use them in causing chaos and disrupting their opponents’ campaigns, insisting that elections will come and go but they will remain in the villages and continue helping each other as usual.

“I want to pledge with the youths and everyone to co-exist peacefully in this electioneering period,” she added.

Ngira was responding to reports that she had opted out of the Kiambere Ward race, affirming that she is still in the race and that her opponents are trying to mislead the public on her candidature.
