Focus on your graft cases, Omar tells Mutua after Kalonzo ultimatum

Wiper Party Secretary General Omar Hassan has told Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to answer to graft allegations leveled against him in court, his sentiments coming shortly after Mutua asked Kalonzo Musyoka to apologise for linking him to the disappearance of his deputy’s daughter.

Mutua accused Kalonzo of recklessly defaming him and has given the Wiper party leader up to Tuesday, November 29, to formally apologise failure to which he would file a lawsuit.

Kalonzo Musyoka had publicly accused governor Mutua over alleged involved in the disappearance Machakos deputy governor Bernard Kiala’s daughter. The girl was later found alive and safe in a man’s house, believed to be her boyfriend.

Senator Omar Hassan, a close ally of Mr. Musyoka, has ‘advised’ the Machakos governor to concentrate on clearing his name from numerous court cases facing him for allegedly misusing public funds.

Omar further added that the party resolved to let Mutua, who was elected on a Wiper ticket, face justice since some of the accusations are ‘glaring theft.’

He accused Governor Mutua of playing victim in the corruption cases facing him instead of submitting to the justice system.

“You know now what he is trying to do is say that it is cry victim, I am a victim of sabotage, I am a victim of propaganda, there is no victim,” Added the Mombasa County senator.

Omar, on the other hand, accused the courts of falling into Governor Mutua’s tricks of constantly stopping his prosecution whenever he is required to answer the charges.

“The courts have stopped his prosecution once or twice and that is where we have issues with the courts, they should not allow themselves to procrastinate prosecution” Said Omar.

According Senator Omar, charges against Mutua arise from complete and concluded audit reports as opposed to audit queries.

Omar told journalist that Governor Mutua has evaded prosecution since 2014.
