FORD Kenya to hold primaries Monday

The FORD Kenya Management Committee has picked the incumbent Trans Nzoia Governor, Patrick Khaemba, as its candidate for the seat in the August 8, 2017 General Election.

The party, on Thursday, April 20, said it had agreed to pick a candidate on consensus basis and hence agreed to have Mr Khaemba fly the party’s flag in the county.

In a statement signed by the party Secretary General, Dr Eseli Simiyu, who is also the Tongaren Member of Parliament, the party said that it had agreed to go the consensus way in some areas but will conduct nominations in others.

“The FORD Kenya Elections Board will on Monday, April 24 carry out nominations for all positions,” said Dr Simiyu.

“This is therefore to call upon all the concerned including supporters and aspirants who were gunning for the position of the governor of Trans Nzoia to rally to the support of the party and specifically Hon Khaemba as FORD Kenya seeks to defend and secure the seat and its hold on the county,” he added.

He called on candidates and their supporters to observe peace and remain orderly as the party conducts the primaries.
