Form 1 girl kills herself after being humiliated for faking exam results

A Form One student at Cardinal Otunga Girls High School in Bungoma County committed suicide on Wednesday after she was embarrassed for altering her exam results.

The girl hanged herself with a bed sheet in the dormitory after the deputy principal scolded her during the school parade for sneaking into the staff room and doctoring her marks in the Geography subject.

It is alleged that the girl filled in a fresh exam paper and awarded herself a score of 93 percent, went to the staff room and placed it inside the subject teacher’s desk where other exam sheets had been kept.

After it was realised that she had faked her marks she was called out during parade and chided in front of her fellow students.

The girl was later on found dead in the dormitory with a bed sheet tied around her neck.

The school administration declined to comment on the matter as the Principal was not around.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
