Form Three girl allegedly stabs boyfriend in Migori

A 22-year-old man is recovering at Olele Memorial Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the back by his girlfriend, a Form Three student at Nyamome Mixed Secondary School in Suna West sub-county, Migori County.

Hassan Barakata said he was taking his clothes to the laundry on Tuesday morning when his girlfriend attacked him as they met on the road.

Barakata said the attack was caused by long-standing unresolved relationship differences between himself and the girlfriend, who was reportedly headed to school at the time of the incident.

The two have reportedly been dating for over a year and, according to Barakata, their parents are aware of their relationship.

Confirming the incident, Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge, however, said the statement recorded by the said girlfriend indicated that she was in the company of another female student on their way to school when Barakata attacked them with a knife.

The girl further claims that, in defense, they overpowered Barakata and he was stabbed during the fight.

The police boss added that they were waiting for Barakata to record a statement so they can establish who was telling the truth between the student and the boyfriend, who is a local trader, and take necessary action.
