Form Three student nabbed with bhang in Nakuru

A Form Three student of Anesta Boys High School in Lanet, Nakuru County was on Saturday arrested in a matatu after he was allegedly found in possession of 21 rolls of bhang that he was transporting to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, Central Commanding Officer Bamfort Tsurwa said the student aged 16, who was part of a five-man group, was nabbed in a matatu by the tout after he tried to escape together with his accomplices.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukata said the police would carry out thorough investigations to establish whether the 21 rolls are bhang and to find out the source of the drug and the whereabouts of his accomplices who managed to escape.

“This is the first case of a student reported to be in possession of illegal drugs in the county, which gives a very bad indication that other students could also be involved,” he said.

He condemned the students involved in the smoking of bhang, saying it was hazardous to their health and was ruining their future.

The police boss thanked the public for tipping the police and urged them to be more vigilant and work hand in hand with the authorities to report any drug dealings.
