Form Two student arrested for killing his grandmother

A Form Two student at Iruma Day Secondary School in Tharaka Nithi County is being held at Chogoria Police Station after allegedly killing his 81-year-old grandmother on Tuesday, July 17.

The student was left under the care of his grandmother Joyce Igoji, who was also paying for his education after the boy’s mother passed on a while back.

According to a local leader, Titus Kaburia, the boy had burnt down a house in his grandmother’s homestead a week ago and after being arrested over the incident he was released soon after.

Maara OCPD Johnstone Kabusia said the boy had been arrested as investigations into the killing of the granny continues.

Mr. Kabusia said the body of the deceased, which was taken to Chuka Hospital Mortuary, had two visible injuries, one on the forehead and another around the mouth.
