Former Laikipia East MP charged with stealing title deed worth Ksh.18.5M

Former Laikipia East MP Anthony Mutahi Kimaru was on Thursday charged with stealing a title deed of a parcel of land valued at Ksh.18.5 million.

Kimaru was accused of stealing the title deed of the land in Nanyuki township belonging to George Odinga and David Mortons Silverstein who are the executors of the late Livia Le Poer Trench, a British settler.

He allegedly committed the offence in August 2016 at the Ministry of Lands headquarters in Nairobi.

Kimaru also faced another count of fraudulently making an agreement of sale of yet another parcel of land still in Nanyuki township dated August 3, 2009.

The court heard that the former MP also uttered the agreement of sale to one Silas Kimeli, the deputy registrar of the High Court in Nyeri.

He denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000 or a bond of Ksh.1 million.

The case will be mentioned on the 28th of January
