Former MP Esther Murugi, children unhurt in plane crash

Former Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi together with her children escaped death narrowly the aircraft they were travelling in crashed at Nyaribo Airstrip in Nyeri County during take-off.

The aircraft experienced technical problems before skidding off the runway leading to the minor crash in the afternoon incident.

Ms. Murugi, her son and daughter-in law were heading to Nairobi for funeral arrangements for one of her friends.

“We thought since I could not attend the burial. My family and I would go and mourn with them,” said the former Special Programmes Minister.

“I am thankful that it happened here and that we are all safe. I am tempted to think that if the plane was already in the air, we probably would be talking about a totally different story,” she added.
