Former MP Koigi Wa Wamwere ditches Jubilee for NASA

Former Subukia Member of Parliament, Koigi Wa Wamwere, has joined the opposition coalition, National Super Alliance (NASA), barely two weeks after being defeated in Jubilee Party primaries for the Nakuru Senatorial ticket.

The former lawmaker said that he made the decision after seeing NASA’s efforts to unite the country, though pundits may dispute this as the kicks of a dying horse after his defeat as this was the same reason he gave when decamping to Jubilee on September 7, 2016 from his Chama Cha Mwananchi.

“Most of my ideologies are reflected in Jubilee. I have made this decision owing to the party policy of uniting the country, zero tolerance to tribalism, and the zeal in the fight against corruption,” he said while decamping to Jubilee.

Koigi Wa Wamwere, who has been an opposition member since the President Jomo Kenyatta era, has given the same reason for decamping to NASA this time round, using a classical biblical narrative.

“Before President Moi, there was Kenyatta who was like Moses and was supposed to lead the Israelites to the promised land of Canaan but, unfortunately, he died on the way. Since then, 99% of Kenyans are still languishing in the desert but in Raila, he is a possible Joshua,” explained Koigi, who was once jailed after the 1982 attempted Coup, although he has refuted taking part in the plan.

Former Central Imenti Legislator, Kirugi M’Mukindia, has also joined the opposition outfit. Both have promised to support the election of newly-crowned NASA flag bearer, Raila Odinga.

Addressing the press after receiving the new NASA entrants, the former premiere was a happy man as his main agenda of uniting all Kenyans, he said, is fast gaining traction.
