Former MP Oduya Oprong dies aged 83
Former Amagoro Member of Parliament Oduya Oprong is dead, his family has confirmed.
The 83-year-old ex-Economic Planning and National Development Assistant Minister reportedly passed on after battling a short illness at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
The former legislator survived an assassination attempt in 1994, leaving him with a bullet lodged in his head for 25 years.
While passing his condolence message to the family of the deceased, Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong described Mr. Oprong as “a great patriot with an impeccable record of service to the nation and his community.”
“He was an outstanding servant whose love for country and his community was unquestionable. His passion to serve and penchant for excellence was unprecedented,” said Governor Ojaamong.
“The death of this noble soul has left an indelible mark in our hearts; and he will forever be remembered for the tenacity and energy he exhibited during his service to the country and community.”
