Former Nairobi Finance boss acquitted in multi-million fraud case

Former Nairobi Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Kiamba and three former senior county officers have been acquitted of corruption charges.

Mr. Kiamba, former Chief Accounting Officer Stephen Osiro, County Secretary Lilian Wanjiru Ndegwa and Regina Chepkemoi were facing seven counts of abuse of office, making and uttering false documents.

Milimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Kennedy Bidali, ruled the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Mr. Kiamba and Mr. Osiro were dismissed from City Hall in July 2015 after they failed to convince the County Government of their innocence following corruption charges levelled against them by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) which linked them to procurement scams.

Jimmy Kiamba and his co-accused had been charged with defrauding City Hall of millions of shillings in shady procurement deals.
