Former PS Njiru To Be Grilled Over Railway Deal

The former long serving transport PS is expected to shed more light on the multibillion shilling railway project that has elicited sharp criticism, after a Chinese company was awarded the tender without competitive bidding.

On Monday, the committee led by Eldas Mp Adan Keynan questioned former Transport Minister Amos Kimunya.

The former minister had in the past ignored invitations to appear before the Public Investment Committee.

He was however declared a hostile witness after allegedly being accused of not co-operating with MPs

Kimunya had earlier refused to appear before the committee saying he would not give any useful information

He also refused to take oath before giving his evidence.

Kimunya further indicated that it was the Kenya Railways Corporation which approved the deal and that he could not interfere in the process.
