Former Raila Odingas aide Eliud Owalo to run for Kibra parliamentary seat

Former Raila Odinga’s aide Eliud Owalo has announced that he will view for the Kibra parliamentary seat in 2017.

Speaking during a tour of Kibra Constituency on Sunday, Owalo said that he is determined to undertake his agenda for Kibra Constituency and help the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) pursue an appropriate legislative agenda in Parliament.

“I have a dream and strategic intent to facilitate the alleviation of the challenges that the people of Kibra face, including but not limited to insecurity, housing, roads, water and sanitation,” said Owalo.

“I will maintain my eyes on the ball and will not be distracted by the side shows of who is likely to run against me.”

Owalo called for teamwork and cooperation between residents in Kibra Constituency saying they should take advantage of the forthcoming ODM grass root elections to elect party officials who represent the face of Kenya.

He noted that ODM has a support base all over the country “and this universal support must be reflected in party leadership at the grass root levels.”

Mr Owalo accused the Jubilee Government of misrule and underperformance pointing at corruption and nepotism as some of the issues that the government should address.

He appealed to the youth and women to acquire Identity Cards in massive numbers and turn up in the next elections to ensure victory for CORD.

Owalo was speaking after attending church services at Darajani SDA Church and Friends Church in Mashimoni and held meetings with the Gusii, Kamba and Muslim communities residing Kibra.

He also visited Kenyatta Market, Toi Market and Makina Markets as part of his familiarisation tour.

This comes even as Odinga’s daughter Rosemary Odinga expressed interest in the same position.
