Former Standard Editor apologizes over car theft

Former Standard Media Group editor, Aaron Ochieng, has publicly apologized to his colleague, Standard Group News anchor Joy Doreen Biira and her family over the car theft and his earlier contention that they conspired in the car theft.

The former journalist, who has since been charged in a Nairobi court with the theft of a motor vehicle valued at Ksh 2.8 million belonging to Ms Biira, has further asked the court to allow them discuss and settle the matter out of court.

The court has allowed them one week to reach an agreement and report back to court for the matter to be withdrawn.

Ochieng is also facing charges of handling stolen property after being found with Biira’s motor vehicle, a Mercedes Benz E-220, in Kisumu that had been stolen from the media house in December 2016.
