Former teachers accused of grabbing school land

Four schools in Kemeloi area, Nandi County have decried the grabbing of their land by former head teachers at the schools..

Land belonging to Kemeloi Girls, Kemeloi Day Sec, Kemeloi Boarding Primary and Kemeloi Day Primary, which measures 45 acres, was allegedly grabbed by Mr Gilbert Julius Karan and Late John K. Barno.

According to the current Kemeloi Boarding Primary School head teacher, Wycliffe Mwole, the duo settled in the school compound when they were teachers, before being served with presidential notice to move out of the land.

Now, students, with the support of their parents, are appealing for intervention from the Land commission so as to rescue the affected schools, which also don’t have title deeds.

This comes barely a year since Lang’ata Primary School children were involved in protests against the grabbing of their school land.
