Former TV reporter Yassin Jumas case fails to take off

Former TV journalist and blogger Yassin Juma on Monday appeared at the Kiambu Law Courts to answer charges of misuse of communication gadgets.

Yassin, however, did not take any plea after police said the charge sheet was faulty.

According to police sources, Yassin might be charged with misuse of a communication gadget in relation to the Al Shabaab attack in El Adde Somali where a number of Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were killed.

Juma was taken back to police cells where officers said he could be given a police bond to appear in court at a later date.

Yassin was arrested on Saturday night over photos he posted on his blog and social media accounts on the attack by Al Shabaab militants on a Kenyan military camp in El Adde, Somalia.

Shortly after the news of his arrest hit social media, the hash tag #FreeYassinJuma shot to the top of the trends with many social media users asking for his immediate release.
