Four arrested after CCTV footage shows gangsters in Nairobi home

Police have arrested four suspected gangsters believed to have been terrorizing residents of Nairobi’s Kilimani estate through a series of robberies.

The four; Alex Nderi alias ‘Ade’, Peter Kaari alias ‘Pinches’ aka ‘Walker’, Lawrence Alusala alias ‘Nico’ and Veronica Kamau alias ‘Veroh’ were nabbed on Sunday after CCTV cameras captured gangsters raiding a home in Nairobi.

In the footage dated Wednesday, February 13, 2019 two suspects — one of them brandishing a pistol — are seen walking out of the home before getting into a Prado being driven out of the compound by their accomplice.

According to police, investigations have linked the four to the incident captured in the CCTV footage.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations recovered from the suspects a firearm with 14 rounds of ammunition, an assortment of keys and door-breaking equipment as well as two vehicles among them a Toyota Prado.

“After the incidents were reported, DCI Detectives launched investigations whereby CCTV footage was retrieved and analyzed. A black Prado with fake number plates was identified  and later traced to a broker who had hired it to some suspects. A trap was laid & the four suspects arrested,” said the DCI, in a statement on Monday.

“Upon interrogation, one of the suspects led the detectives to Kwihota, Ruiru Town whereby a firearm which was reported robbed from a Chinese national loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition was recovered.

According to police, the firearm has been submitted to ballistics for forensic examination.

The four suspects were arraigned in court on Monday with police being allowed more time to detain them as further investigations continue.
