Four arrested for impersonating police, robbing Mombasa residents during curfew

Four people have been arrested in Changamwe, Mombasa County for allegedly impersonating police officers and pretending to enforce the curfew rules.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Changamwe police boss Ali Ndiema said the four have been dressing in full police attire and brandishing pistols while terrorizing area residents.

The suspects allegedly “arrested” residents they found outside during curfew hours and those without face masks and forced them into their vehicle where they would then rob them.

Mr. Ndiema further stated that the four are being held at the Changamwe Police Station as a search for the police attire and weapons they used goes on.

The police boss also urged area residents to abide by the government regulations on combating the spread of the coronavirus.
