Four arrested over fake Ksh.65M Sultan Hamud tender scandal

Police have arrested four suspects accused of trying to con a businessman in a fake Sultan Hamud tender award worth Ksh.65million.

The four men allegedly assured him of the tender for construction of a school administration block in Sultan Hamud.

“Have you ever been conned by these  men with a promise to award you a tender? The good news is that they were arrested yesterday (Friday),” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said on Twitter.

The four suspects are Zacharia Joel Owuor from Komarock; Edward Mutuku Nzioki from Uthiru; George Obeli Kasasi from Kayole and Moses Mugatia Ikiugu from Ruai.

They were arrested after they presented false documents to the complainant for the Sultan Hamud tender.

Owuor, Nzioki, Kasasi and Ikiugu are expected to appear in court on Monday where they will be charged with obtaining money under false pretenses.

Police are urging the public to provide any further information on the suspects to the Serious Crime Unit.

Sultan Hamud is located in Makueni County on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
