Four chiefs beaten by changaa seller in Kiambu

Four chiefs in Kiambu were left nursing injuries following an altercation with an illicit brew seller on Sunday.

The four administrators from Kabete Sub-county had stormed a drinking den at Wangige market after a tip off from local residents.

The chiefs claim they approached the chang’aa seller and asked him to surrender but he suddenly turned violent before he beckoned tens of goons who descended on the chiefs, whipping them mercilessly.

“This is a man we’ve arrested severally, we know him and he operates around. We feel our lives are in danger…bearing on what has happened. We need to be armed or even being given police escorts all the time,” said one of the chiefs.

The four; Wangige location chief Samuel Mburu, Peter Gachuhi of Gathiga, Robert Muiruri of Kirangari and Muigai Robert of Ruku sustained various injuries forcing them to run for their safety.

Kabete Assistant County Commissioner Felistas Ngumbao said that a man hunt for the suspect had been mounted by security officers.
