Four cops injured as copter crashes in Nairobi

Four police officers were on Thursday evening injured after their helicopter crashed at National Youth Service (NYS) Engineering College in Nairobi’s Mathare North area.

St. John Ambulance transferred the injured officers to Nairobi West Hospital for treatment.

Ruaraka OCS, Philip Nkidi, said there were no fatalities even as police launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, another light aircraft crashed in Naivasha early Thursday with six tourists on board.

A Polish woman perished in the accident while her five British counterparts sustained minor head and limb injuries. They were treated and discharged from Naivasha sub-county hospital.

A Kenyan pilot, who sustained serious burns, was flown to a hospital in Nairobi for specialized treatment.

The tourists, who were in the country to condole with a friend who had lost his wife, were on a Lake Naivasha viewing mission when the aircraft crashed minutes after taking off from Kijabe airstrip.
