Four dead, 18 hospitalised following Cholera outbreak in Wajir

Four people have died while 18 others have been hospitalised following cholera outbreak at Sarif area in Wajir County.

Confirming the incident, Wajir County Chief Health Officer Abdullahi Maalim Hassan said that despite the challenges that the county’s health sector faces, everything is being done to control the situation.

Already the county health department has set aside emergency tents to cater to those affected, with more doctors and drugs being taken to the area to deal with the outbreak.

Since the first outbreak in Wajir in August last year, 45 people have lost their lives out of the 2,904 people who displayed cholera symptoms.

The main cholera control centre in Wajir has just six patients left, indicating a reduction in the cases.
